Cellulose acetate is a semi-synthetic fiber made of acylated cellulose. There are two variants – diacetate, also known as acetate fiber and triacetate where the celluloses all OH groups are acetylated. Triacetate is the most common cellulose acetate. The fiber is spun from a solution in acetic acid or acetone. The use is relatively limited. There are emissions of acetic acid and acetone during the acetylation and spinning.
