A PBT-substance is hazardous and mainly used in the textile industry and PBT is an abbreviation for a substance that is persistent (hard to naturally degrade in nature), bio accumulated (which accumulate in living organisms) and toxic (poisonous).

PBTs can pose risks depending on how they are used and disseminated, and they are very problematic in this way. A PBT substances can be different toxic, fat-soluble, and lifespan may vary. Example of PBT substances are substances that are known as highly fluorinated substances, which are used for waterproofing and preventing water, dirt and oil from entering the fabric.
