Not Textile Environmental Handbook is a book that was published in 1997 by the former industry organization Tekoindustrierna (Teko Industries), now Textil- och modeföretagen (TEKO - Textiles and fashion companies). The authors are Harald Åsnes, Henrik Willers and Sven Cele. The purpose of the book was to provide an informed description of what fibers consist of, textile manufacturing and all its steps, product use and also to provide basic environmental facts. It turned to buyers, sellers and employees in industry and commerce. It was also intended to function as a current reference book for everyone interested in the environment. ==Textilmiljöhandbokens opening (freely translated , NOT by authors)==The Textile Environmental textbook opening could also be used as the introduction to TEKOwikin and reads: Hardly any production and trade is as international as the textile. From fiber production in one country, spinning in another and weaving or knitting in a third, the raw fabric is sent to yet!another country where it is dyed and processed. It can then be sent away to be exported for sale elsewhere in the world. Today, it is not unusual either for the various steps of dyeing, processing and sewing to take place in different locations. Knowing of this background makes it clear that there is an extensive and costly process to obtain reliable and comprehensive environmental information on textile products' environmental effects - the treatment chain is long and processes vary widely.
