GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL) is a copyleft-license designed for free-content originally designed by the Free Software Foundation.
The license was originally designed for software documentation and other instructional materials. It stipulates that all copies of the licensed materials, including modified versions, are under the same license. Such copies may be reproduced and even sold, but if they are mass reproduced they must be made available in a way that helps further editing and distribution. Wikipedia is the largest documentation project that uses this license.
According to the Debian legal Task Force is the GNU FDL "ickefri" (non-free) when applied to some additions of their own guidelines (Debian Free Software Guidelines).
